Trips planned by Robin · Jeju City, South Korea

4 Days on Jeju Island: The Perfect First Trip.

Four days on Jeju splits naturally into a volcanic east and a volcanic west: Seongsan Ilchulbong's crater and a bike loop around Udo fill the big day out east, Hallasan's Yeongsil trail and the cave temple at Sanbangsan anchor the west, and Jeju City itself opens and closes the trip with Dongmun Market, black pork grilled tableside and a sunset climb up little Sarabong. This plan drives the island from one base, so you unpack once and let the coasts trade off day by day.

Day 1: Jeju City, from Dragon Head Rock to black pork

Ease into Jeju City itself, the black volcanic rock of Yongduam, the bustle of Dongmun Market, and a sunset climb up little Sarabong for a first look at the island's coastline. Book nothing tonight, just wander.

Robin's tip. Sarabong's sunset climb is only fifteen minutes up, but bring a layer; the harbor wind at the top is colder than the city below, and golden hour is when the locals arrive.
Day 2 · Friday

Day 2: Sunrise crater, haenyeo divers & the Udo loop

This is your big volcanic-and-sea day out east: Seongsan Ilchulbong's crater at sunrise light, the Haenyeo Museum to understand the women divers whose culture defines this coast, and a ferry over to Udo for a slow bike loop around the island.

A casual last dinner grazing hotteok, grilled seafood skewers, and hallabong ade under the night-market lights.

Choose your last-day flavor

If you loved Dongmun's stalls on day 1keep the night-market finish; grazing hotteok and hallabong ade under the lights is a proper Jeju send-off
If you would rather not repeat a restaurantthe plan books 다소니 twice across days 3 and 4; ask Robin to swap the day-4 lunch for a haenyeo shack on the west coast and it will
If you have energy for one more big sighttrade the morning beach walk for the Manjanggul lava tube, a kilometer of walkable volcanic tunnel out east

Bucket-list foods in Jeju City

Jeju black pork (heuk-dwaeji)

The island's signature: charcoal-grilled pork from Jeju's native black pigs, thicker-cut and smokier than mainland samgyeopsal.

On this trip: Donsadon, day 1 dinner, grilled tableside

Gogi-guksu

Pork noodle soup in a milky broth, Jeju's everyday comfort bowl and worth a queue.

On this trip: 국수마씸, day 1 lunch

Haenyeo-caught abalone and sea urchin

Shellfish hand-harvested that morning by the diving women themselves, served plain because it needs nothing.

On this trip: Haenyeo's House by the Seongsan shore, day 2 lunch

Galchi-jorim

Braised silver hairtail in a fiery red sauce, a south-island specialty.

On this trip: Sanbang Sikdang near Sanbangsan, day 3 lunch

Where to stay for this itinerary

Stay in Jeju City old town if…

Stay in Seogwipo if…

Stay in Seongsan if…

Before you go

Do you need a car on Jeju?

Effectively yes. The island's buses reach most sights but turn this plan's easy hops into half-day missions. Rent at the airport and bring an International Driving Permit; rental desks ask for it alongside your license.

What must be booked ahead?

Nothing on this plan needs advance tickets. The Udo ferry from Seongsan port is turn-up-and-go, just note the last return sailing when you land on the island. Only Hallasan's two summit trails use a reservation system; day 3's Yeongsil route stays below the summit and doesn't.

How do you get in from the airport?

Jeju International sits practically inside Jeju City; the old town and Dongmun Market are a ten-minute drive from the terminal, so day 1 starts the moment you land.

Is four days enough for Jeju?

For the east, the west and the city, comfortably. A fifth day earns you either the full Hallasan summit or a slow stretch of an Olle coastal trail; hikers should seriously consider it.

What are the haenyeo?

Jeju's free-diving women, who harvest abalone, sea urchin and conch on a single breath, some into their eighties. Day 2 pairs the Haenyeo Museum with a lunch of their actual morning catch; it is the island's culture served on a plate.

5–6 days

Have 5–6 days?

First, climb Hallasan properly

Reserve the Seongpanak summit trail and give South Korea's highest peak a full day; the crater lake at the top is the island's crown, and the day-3 Yeongsil walk will have shown you exactly what you're climbing into.

Add a lava-tube-and-east-coast day

Pair the Manjanggul lava tube with Woljeongri's white-sand coast and a slow café afternoon; it fills the gap between this plan's east day and the city days.

Walk one Olle trail end to end

Jeju's famous coastal walking routes come in half-day segments; pick one near your base and do it unhurried, sea on one side, stone walls and tangerine groves on the other.
